| What are your healing qualifications and modalities? Tell us about the services you provide. |
I hold Bachelor of Social Welfare, Diploma of Energetic Healing and accreditation in both Bach and Australian Bush Flower Essences. The services I specialise in include energetic healing, vibrational essences, holistic counselling, space clearing and my exciting new project Chakra Designs. Chakra Designs are spiritually designed artworks which use energetic principles to create Yantras, sacred symbols that work as a healing medium. The Yantra provides an energetic point of focus and with its concentrated vibrational energy, can have positive and influential effects with its presence. |
| Are you a qualified trainer in your healing field? | Currently I am working to consolidate my own learning and development within the healing arts. I am still developing my own specialist skills and optimising ways to integrate this knowledge and these techniques within my practice. Once I achieve the degree of specialist knowledge I aspire to, my goal will be to share this expertise with others through seminars and workshops. Training others is definitely something I will be looking to embrace in the future! |
| How do you work? Full time, part time, adhoc etc | I currently offer my services part time, and as I build my client base, skills and expertise I intend to offer my services and knowledge on a full time basis. |
| What environment do you practice from e.g. clinic, home, mobile, coorporation | My practice is currently set up from a healing room at my residence. I have plans to establish a clinic setting in Parramatta to enable greater ease of access, exposure to a wider audience and to have the opportunity to promote my skills and expertise to the local community. |
| What inspired you to become a healing practitioner? |
My career has always been based in social and community settings. I have gained great insight into people's experiences whilst walking their journey with them as well as offering support and guidance along the way to the best of my capabilities. Some years ago, I wanted to work with others in a more comprehensive capacity; to explore the essence of who they are, what they are experiencing, and to incorporate my interest in natural therapies as part of my social welfare work. My goal was to find a career path I would experience joy in practicing such that I could go to work excited, empowered and stimulated all at the same time! Looking through various courses, colleges and training programs I came across the Diploma of Energetic Healing and it immediately sparked my interest! From a young age I had an intent interest in spiritual and esoteric teachings and believed that we are much more than the physical body we see. The subjects in the course deeply appealed to me at a soul level and from that point I made the decision to trust my instinct and open my future to the new and exciting world of energetic healing! It was the best decision I ever made! As I now progress further upon my journey in the healing arts I realise that this is a profession that is ever evolving. The further I delve into it, the more I understand there is to learn and it excites me that being a healing practitioner not only allows me to assist others, but is also the greatest journey of self discovery I have ever been on. I couldn't have asked for a better choice of profession and have much gratitude that this opportunity has been gifted to me! |
| Is there a particular area of your work or modality which is your passion? How are you using this in your practice? | In consultation with clients, my passion is to work holistically, not only to remedy symptoms of illness or disease but to consider the psychosomatic link of the body and mind; the connection in exploring the path to well being. This type of inquiry can often facilitate transformational processes in people, and it brings me much joy and satisfaction to see clients empowering themselves through the choices they make to move forward in growth and self development. In addition to this, a new healing medium that has truly sparked my passion in its recent development are the Chakra Designs I create. These painted sacred Yantras, ancient symbols fused with energetic principles, are used as a point of focus and reflection in any room or space. They incorporate therapeutic elements of colour, powerful symbology, vibrational remedies including flower essences and mantra sound within their energy field. This produces an artwork that heals, balances and permeates the creative energy imbibed within the canvas. It is something people can take away and utilise in their own home to enhance the vibrational elements of any space or room, with the focus of a specific intention charged with energetic potentiality. |
| What has been one of your challenges that has surfaced for you since doing this work? and how has this challenge assisted you? | One of the challenges I have faced through this work and I have observed in the 'helping professions' is to understand and remain aware of the most effective role I can play in the interpersonal dynamic between therapist and client. As we work very closely with others, our sphere of influence can have far reaching implications and it is important to remain aware of this in all levels of practice. As therapists we also carry our own beliefs, values and perspectives that may influence our day to day work and the information we share with others. Through my experiences working with others I have had to learn to allow each individual to walk their own journey and accept the lessons they face on the way. I have realised that I cannot take on the responsibility for their choices and consequences. One of the challenges we see in our field is the need to want to 'rescue' others from their suffering and distress. While this can be viewed as noble, the result can be disempowering for the client and boundaries may be compromised. As many healers have a high degree of empathic sensitivity we can feel the degree of suffering a person may be experiencing. While this creates a greater depth of understanding of an individual's experience, it may also generate a desire to do everything we can to try to relieve their suffering. The belief that we may know better, or are somehow more equipped to manage the issue can leads us to intervene or try to 'rescue' others in a way that inhibits their ability to resolve it themselves and disables their growth and development. Through this journey of personal and professional development I have learnt the most effective use of therapy is an enabling approach. This approach facilitates a process for a person to initiate their own interventions through empowerment by taking responsibility for self initiated growth. In my experience, this produces the most effective outcomes and encourages individual's empowerment, confidence and enhanced self responsibility along the path of life. Worth a mention at this point, is also the very necessary need to know how to self care. In this profession we are asked to heal others, and this healing has to begin with the acknowledgement that our own journey of self healing and self care is a fundamental component to the wonderful work we do. It is necessary to have strategies in place to love and nurture ourselves, to remain in balance and to honour the in depth work we do by taking time out to reflect and regain our inner self of harmony and centeredness. |
| Do you use any marketing for your practice? If so what have you found works or doesn't work? | I believe the best way to market currently is via online media. As the general population becomes more tech savvy, there is greater ease and access to information on the internet. I believe that having a presence online, either by having a website or advertising via a medium like the natural therapy pages; is an excellent way to generate exposure to a wider audience. |
| Do you bring any skills or knowledge from previous employment/career into your current practice? | My work in the human services sector has enabled me to develop a comprehensive framework to work with others in a supportive and therapeutic way. I have gained excellent skills in holistic assessment and working from a person centred approach, two of the most valuable methods to facilitate effective support to meet the needs of the individual. In holistic assessment we are seeking to reflect upon the whole of the individual. In this process all aspects of life and experience are considered in order to evaluate the impact on the individual and the factors that influence this. This enables comprehensive understanding of each aspect of an individual's situation and the integration of this in developing therapeutic techniques for support and growth. I also use a person centred approach which empowers clients to realise their strengths and capabilities, with the ability to resolve difficulties, throu! gh self exploration and awareness. This encourages cultivation of self-esteem, authenticity and gives the person autonomy over their choices and responsibility. My previous employment has also enabled me to develop comprehensive skills in counselling, coaching and mentoring. I incorporate these skills in my energetic healing work as they are an integral part of the ongoing communication and rapport building it takes to have the most effective client therapist relationship. When a person establishes trust in the practitioner, trust in themselves and the process- that's when true magic can happen! |
| What do you love best about your practice? | The aspect I most love about my healing practice and energy work is the gift I receive from others to be a witness to their journey of transformation and self realisation. I feel like I am aligned in service to the divine and honouring my life purpose as I receive the tools and opportunity to facilitate this support. As I draw upon my own knowledge and experience, I am able to work collaboratively with others on the journey of self empowerment and self awareness. I feel the most joy and satisfaction by contributing towards raising the consciousness and the energy of love and light on this planet. |
| Is there any advice you would give to students or people just starting a practice? | The best advice I could give to others starting a practice is to develop a vision of where you want to go and to surround yourself with people who believe in you and your capability to achieve that vision. When we seek support from others who encourage and affirm our vision, this cultivates a deeper element of belief and confidence in the process. As we align ourselves with a vibration of what we aim to achieve, and cultivate belief and trust of that to manifest, the universe will line up the right circumstances to facilitate the creation of our vision. It is to cultivate faith, love and trust in our life purpose and as we find what truly resonates in our heart, we take the steps to do all we can to surround ourselves with positive factors that will influence and encourage the development of what we wish to achieve. |

| What are your healing qualifications and modalities? Tell us about the services you provide. |
I am a Spiritual Healer connecting to your soul and your guides. Each healing is unique, as I tune into what is needed for your highest good. I use Ignite your Spirit healing, cleaning and energising your chakras, combined with Theta and Brandon Bays work. I am also being guided by my guides for what is needed, hands on healing. My main goal is to get to the core issue and this might be done in one treatment or may take a few. I also run healing meditations. |
| I have heard of Brandon Bays though am not familiar with the modality or technique she uses? Could you explain that a bit further? |
Brandon Bays is very similar to Theta and Ignite your Spirit, they all connect to God, it is similar to Theta as it goes through similar to Theta in the question asking and changing the belief system that is there. When l set out on my self discovery and finding a healing modality that is stronger than acupuncture as l knew you don't need any physical additions but just didn't know how, so I asked the universe ( Not God!! ) to guide me. It took the 3rd one(modality) Ignite your Spirit for me to finally get it, there must be something in this God bussiness!! ( to me God was the church). At the end of the day they are all the same, just using slightly different tools. I don't use it much, mainly l connect and do what needs to be done. |
| Do you target a specific group for your meditation classes e.g. cancer support groups or are they general classes? | I run them every Thursday at a Nursing Home, and the last Wednesday of the month in Meadowbank for the general public. |
| Are you a qualified trainer in your healing field? | I am trained as Ignite Your Spirit Teacher |
| How do you work? Full time, part time, adhoc etc | Full time |
| What environment do you practice from e.g. clinic, home, mobile, coorporation | Home. For my meditation classes l travel. |
| What inspired you to become a healing practitioner? | I have been healing since I was 19. My healing started off with being an Acupuncturist and Masseuse. I then took a long break to look after my children. The last 7 years I took up a new path on Spiritual Healing as I became aware that the emotional body is the core of many illnesses and I needed to heal myself. So I started my journey of many courses and now I walk my talk. |
| Is there a particular area of your work or modality which is your passion? How are you using this in your practice? | I am very passionate about getting to the core, working with the emotional body and guiding people to take responsibility of their lives by giving them tools so they can help themselves and not become dependent on me for everything. Recently my passion has extended into becoming a Funeral Celebrant, as I found this is a very neglected area of healing for the loved ones that have passed and the ones left behind. This is very dear to my heart. |
| What has been one of your challenges that has surfaced for you since doing this work? and how has this challenge assisted you? | Facing my own fears and faults. As everything is a mirror; I really had to look at myself and not blame anyone for anything. Now its easy. |
| Do you use any marketing for your practice? If so what have you found works or doesn't work? | Word of mouth and website, also going to the EHA healing days to offer my services; this is the most rewarding as l am giving back to the community. |
| Do you bring any skills or knowledge from previous employment/career into your current practice? | Yes, all my acupuncture training has helped me a lot. |
| What do you love best about your practice? | People's comments how peaceful and loving it is. What a wonderful gift I have been given to be a vehicle of healing from the Divine, as it isn't me doing the healings, I am being guided. |
| Is there any advice you would give to students or people just starting a practice? | Never give up, and Believe and Trust in Yourself. |
| Elke's tip... |
Always be true to yourself |
